2010 National Championship is Coming

Plans are underway for the WPBTCA’s 2010 National Championship. This year’s event will be held in Pomfret, Md.

AWDF 2010

This year’s AWDF National Championship is being held in Idianapolis, Indiana May 28-30, 2010.

The WPBTCA is the only breed club recognized by the AWDF that represents the American pit bull terrier, and we encourage members who are prepared to compete with their dogs to let us know as soon as possible if they plan to participate.

Complete details about this year’s championship can be found here. If you will be competing, WPBTCA needs to have your completed entry form by April 25, 2010.

The WPBTCA held its 2009 National Championship in Flint, Mich. on Sept. 19-20.

Thanks to our judges Ron Marshall, Amy Morris, Mike Norrod, Dan Williams, and Sandy William, and our decoy, Clark Niemitalo. And big thanks to our hosts, Howard and Beth Burgess.

Congratulations to our 2009 National Champions, Aja Harris and Esco, and our 2009 Vice Champions, Okye Laster and Torque.

Belated congratulations to Okye Laster and his dog Sir Rua Torque of Baroness for earning their IPO II title Fourth of July weekend with an 88 in tracking, 78 in obedience, and 85 in protection. Good work, you guys!

2009 AWDF Results

AWDF Results are here. Two WPBTCA members, Ron Marshall and his dog Marshall’s RCA (Whitehead), and Okye Laster and his dog Sir Rua Torque of Baroness, participated in the event. Though neither dog passed this year, big congratulations to both dog and handler teams for taking the initiative to get out there and compete!

Ron’s dog received the “Helper’s Choice” award for his work on the protection field. Here’s a video clip of his long bite.

Congratulations to Annetta Cheek and Junior, SCH II

Congratulations to WPBTCA secretary Annetta Cheek and her dog Junior, who earned a SCH II at the Alexandria Schutzhund Club’s spring trial, with a score of 80 – 80 – 88.

The American Working Dog Federation’s 2009 National Championship is being held May 23-25 in Lehigh Valley, Pa. The AWDF has created a web site for the event, which you can visit by clicking here. The site is still under construction, but it will be updated regularly, as new information on the event becomes available.
